Anija Manor has something to offer every senior. On this page we have gathered activities that may be of particular interest to more experienced and older visitors. It is worth setting aside enough time for your visit, as there is truly a lot to see and experience – the manor house, the varied manor park and the nearly two-kilometre “Trail of Senses and Experiences”, the Chamber of Arts and Crafts and Mõisakohwik café. We are happy to welcome both individual visitors and groups.

The restored manor house and the permanent exhibition “The Story of the Manor Era”

The manor house has recently been restored – everything that remains from the original manor era has been highlighted, and layers added to the building in later decades have also been left visible. The immersive permanent exhibition spanning two floors offers a clever overview of the history of Anija Manor and the lives of the manor lords who lived here, as well as an insight into manor culture. On an individual visit you can choose a visitor card at the ticket desk – a character from the manor era who will guide you through the exhibition.

When visiting with a group it is worth booking a guided manor tour. The guide tells exciting stories and draws attention to details you might otherwise miss. You can end your visit in the romantic, period-style Mõisakohwik café.

Experience tour, quiz and coffee break – for seniors

The unique immersive permanent exhibition running through the Anija manor house is a gateway to the manor era. Here you experience manor life as it once was – as if the gentry had just risen from the dinner table and set off for a walk. You hear the sounds of manor life and can sense the atmosphere of bygone eras. The manor rulers appear from the twilight of time. Suddenly you may find yourself a guest of the manor household and part of a historical scene. The journey through the manor is led by a visitor guide. After the experience tour, a nature quiz awaits you – a wonderful addition to a pleasant get-together. Through fun and educational stories you will have a good laugh and certainly learn a lot of new things. The winning team also receives a gift.

By Candlelight at Anija Manor. Stories and Legends

Is it haunted or not? That is a question often raised at Anija Manor! And it seems we may now finally get an answer… Come and find out for yourself!

We invite you to walk with a guide through the dim manor in flickering candlelight, accompanied by ghost stories and excerpts from Juhan Maiste’s book “The History of Anija Manor. Nobility and Peasants”. The journey ends with a cup of tea together.

Workshops and courses for seniors in the Chamber of Arts and Crafts

The Chamber of Arts and Crafts organises various workshops for seniors, which you can attend either individually or with a group. The selection is diverse, so it is worth exploring according to your interests.

Face yoga. It is never too early or too late to start practising face yoga. There is no better time than right here and now. A practical workshop after which everyone feels confident and radiant, at any age. Participants receive a printed summary of the exercises learned in the workshop. Workshop duration 1 hour.

Candle-making workshop. In the soy wax candle-making workshop we make a healthy and well-burning candle. For decoration we use dried plant material and various fabrics. Workshop duration approx. 1–1.5 hours.

Truffle-making workshop. A workshop for true chocolate lovers! We explore what types of truffles are made today and taste how they are. Then we make and decorate our own chocolate truffles. Each participant takes home 15 homemade truffles in a beautiful box. Workshop duration 1–1.5 hours.
