Anija mõisapark
“The Path of Senses and Experiences”
The Anija Manor Park spreads over 10 hectares. Immediately behind the manor house lies a geometrically designed, flower-filled Baroque park in the French style; further away extends a freeform, nature-like English-style park.
Running through the manor park is a roughly 2-kilometre educational trail marked with information boards — “The Path of Senses and Experiences.” Along the trail, all five of our senses are awakened: you can take in beautiful sights, enjoy fine scents, listen to birdsong, taste sweet maple sap, and feel the rough texture of tree bark.
Walking beneath the ancient trees you may suddenly find yourself on the Pinecone Trail, discover a giant bird’s nest in the undergrowth, or spot a swing dangling from the mighty branch of an oak…

The Anija Manor Park was created mainly in two periods: 1711–1840 and 1841–1917.
At first, the park was small and Baroque, located immediately next to the main house. In front of the manor house lay an oval lawn surrounded by a circular drive, with a pond nearby. In front of the house were flower beds, and ornamental shrubs stood along the circular drive. Behind the main house was an enclosed Baroque garden together with an ornamental and fruit-tree garden with a greenhouse.
The freeform, species-rich so-called English-style park was laid out at the beginning of the 20th century, when the manor belonged to its last owner, Mary von Wahl. At the rear of the English garden stood a romantic park pavilion with a granite back wall and four white wooden columns — only the beautifully patterned granite wall survives today. On three sides, oaks surround the former pavilion, and from the west an avenue of large-leaved lindens leads to it.
The Anija Manor Park differed from other manor parks in Northern Estonia in that it was surrounded by a high boundary wall of field stones and limestone. Initially the wall enclosed only the Baroque garden, but later it came to encircle the entire park. 1.2 km of the wall has been restored.
The groves are mainly located along the wall, but also form large groups of distinctive tree and shrub species, between which stretch open lawns.
The Anija Manor Park has been under nature protection since 1958, and has also been protected as a cultural monument since 1997.

Bee Therapy
Bee Therapy at Anija Manor
In the Anija Manor Park stands a unique bee therapy house — a specially designed light structure into which beehives have been safely integrated. Resting on the bunks, you can listen to the soothing, almost hypnotic hum of thousands of bees and breathe in the natural aromas rising from the hives.
The bees’ flight entrances are located on the exterior walls of the building, and the bees cannot enter the house, which makes the therapy session safe for the visitor.
The hum of the bees, their gentle vibration, and the air and scent of the hive have a therapeutic effect on people. The humming helps you relax and supports inner peace; the hive air is suitable for inhalation; and the micro-vibrations produced by the movement of bee wings act on the body as a gentle vibration massage. Bee therapy helps to support the immune system and circulation, and invigorates both body and mind.
The recommended duration of a therapy session is 30 minutes. For the best experience, we recommend lying down comfortably on the bunk and letting both body and mind rest.
Bee therapy is a gentle, nature-close way to maintain good tone, lift the mood, and experience deep relaxation.
