Tours of the manor house

History lesson “Let’s Visit the Lord of the Manor”
Grades 4–6
History comes alive – not from a textbook, but in the heart of a real manor. We walk around the manor grounds and find out what a carriage circle, a greenhouse and an avenue are. In the manor house we tell stories about landlords and stewards, governesses and peasants, and watch fun short animations about the customs of the gentry and the everyday life of common people. The journey of discovery ends with exciting ghost stories.

Experience tour with ghost stories
Pre-school groups and grades 1–5
The immersive permanent exhibition in the manor house is a gateway to the manor era – as if the gentry had just risen from the dinner table. Accompanied by a guide, the children travel through the salons, find mysterious clues and hear ghost stories connected with Anija Manor. An adventure that leaves no visitor, small or big, unmoved.
Tours of the manor park
In the 10-hectare Anija Manor Park winds the 2 km educational trail “The Path of Senses and Experiences”. The trail was renewed with the support of the LEADER programme and now offers new learning and play elements – large relief tree leaves, tree rings, enlarged models of a honeybee, bumblebee, wasp and hornet, giant mushrooms, a wooden skittle alley, a barrel game, a witch’s path and a balance swing.
“An educational trail should allow interest to awaken and beauty to be discovered in every stone, stump and forest glade.” – Jaan Eilart, landscape ecologist and cultural historian

The park tours “The Secrets Trail of Anija Manor Park” and “The Hidden Wonders of Anija Manor Park” have been awarded the EHE label. EHE (Genuine and Interesting Estonia) is an ecotourism quality label that recognises nature-friendly and environmentally sustainable tourism products that offer authentic experiences and value cultural heritage.

The Secrets Trail of Anija Manor Park
Kindergarten, grades 1–6
A playful journey of discovery where children look, touch, listen, explore and play. Beneath the ancient trees we find a pine cone path and a giant bird’s nest big enough for the whole group, get to know Estonian nature and think about how our way of life affects it.

The Hidden Wonders of Anija Manor Park
grades 7–12
A calmer journey of discovery that brings together nature, manor history and cultural heritage. On the information boards, visitors are accompanied by Mary von Wahl, the last lady of the manor, and the species-rich park holds surprises even for experienced nature lovers. The tour can end in the gazebo by the pond or at the campfire site and can be combined with a visit to the permanent exhibition “The Story of the Manor Era”.
